We at Habitat for Humanity Carman-Dufferin have excitingnews! As you may be aware, our chapter completed the first Habitat for Humanityhome build in Carman in 2016. We are currently putting a team of peopletogether to revive the chapter and begin building homes again in Carman! Wehave received the support of both the Town of Carman as well as the RM ofDufferin and are eager to move forward.
As we look towards the future, we are asking for yourbusiness to partner with us to make homeownership possible for more families inCarman-Dufferin. The affordable housing crisis continues to grow in thiscommunity and across the country. Families with children find it extremelydifficult to both pay rent and save up a downpayment for a home. As well,building prices have increased enough that it is now difficult for anyone tobuild new homes, which has created another crisis – lack of housing.
At Habitat for Humanity, we work towards addressing both ofthese problems. Our program seeks out families who:
1) Are currently renting their home
2) Have a minimum household income of $32,500 (fromtheir employment)
3) Have been employed for at least 2 years in theCarman-Dufferin area
4) Are willing to live where we build
5) Are willing to undergo financial checks andfinancial courses
6) 
Are willing to put in 500 sweat equityhours (both on building their home and in community volunteering)
We build new homes, through both paid trades and communityvolunteer help and our partner families buy their home at market value. Weprovide them with a no-downpayment, interest-free mortgage with their monthlypayments tailored to their income. As our homeowners pay back theirmortgage, we use those funds towards building the next home. In this way,all Habitat partner families are helping MORE families become homeowners – justby making their mortgage payments!

Our total fundraising goal forthis build is approximately $250,000 of which we have currently raised $30,000.
